No matter where you stand related to our country and our world now, you are likely feeling some uncertainty, maybe grief or shock, possibly not sure what you can trust or count on at this time on the planet.
I can feel it ‘in the air’. I feel a bit in a vacuum, searching for comfort and looking for things that orient me. My body, nature, my connection with friends and loved ones, my connection with the Sacred and the practices that fill my life and work.
As I tune in and wonder what I can do for myself and my community, I keep receiving this: “Do what you know how to do…guide the way in the darkness, bring light.” So, I do my practice and offer it to others. I follow the little spark of my desire and practice listening for the call of my heart and Soul. I hunt for it…like a treasure…the ember of inspiration, guidance or softening of my heart or body. I hunt for it, the image or thread of imagination that calls me, the movement juicy and full that invites me in, the beauty in nature that captures my breath, even if for a moment. I hunt for it…the impulse that soothes me, the spark that lights the way from the inside, out. This is my practice and my offering.
Our most recent experience into this ‘lit from within’ land, last Saturday, brought great treasures to the group that I want to share with you now. One woman expressed her anger and grief at the situation in the world, how we treat each other, and how far this has strayed from her values. Through inner work she was shown she can bring light, color and joy, she can feel joy and she can embody joy and healing, this attuned her and built her capacity to be this joyful enlivened energy, it was palpable.
Another realized she could reclaim passion, peace and calm and feel these resources in her body, her face relaxed and a new ease filled her.
Freedom from old stories and connection to a thread of Native lineage brought expansion and peace to another Soul in our circle, “this was a perfect way to spend a Saturday” she smiles.
Another received the treasure of inspiration to take her ailing son into the mountains that he loves, for a sunny late fall adventure of healing.
“Surrender and go with the flow” was another’s wisdom, “I felt it in my body and see it in my minds eye…and I am understanding everything is as it should be. It is not about this door opening and that one closing, or if I am choosing wrong. It is about being in the flow and trusting it is all as it should be.”
We learn to build our capacity for not knowing and re-member how to find our way in the darkness, like OSHO says: “ Courage is a love affair with the unknown”.
This day I was renewed in re-membering: Even when we are in the dark, having the courage to hunt for the spark and then the willingness to follow the feel good is the seat of our power. Every time we are able to connect our desire with positive feel good emotions and actions we are in alignment with the treasure of our life. We participate in shifting our neural processes and build more positive neural connections. We connect with others and we are lit from within. We become a beacon of goodness in this world, and that IS something we can do.
