I have to say it was strange not being at the dance last night after 7 years of teaching every Tuesday night! No prep on Monday or Tuesday and this strange feeling that I was missing something as 7:30 got closer. I found myself a little adrift. What will I ‘do’ with this evening?! I chose to just be with doing nothing.
This morning I remember, in my body, that rest…a resting place is such an important part of all cycles. Everything needs to rest. I let myself sink into this resting place, feel it in my body. I feel the pause in the change of season, from the heat, growth and productivity tempo of Summer to the early stages of release and let go of Fall. We are right in this window…the between-ness.
I can feel this between-ness in my body, in my awareness, there is a seductive fullness here. The pause in the shifting of gears…maybe a tiredness, slowing or quieting. The image of turning inward comes, as we prepare and move closer to the darker part of the year.
I notice, as I let myself slow, let myself focus into this shifting, there is relief here. It seems there is more relief and ease when I bring my awareness to what is really available, what is really ‘happening’ in this changing of seasons and changing of rhythms. When I give myself the pause…ahhh…the pleasure in the pause comes. There is ease here, in being with what is really ‘happening’.
In comparison with this current ease, I reflect on the edge of anxiousness that might have been present with the ending, the ‘what will I DO with this evening’ feeling. Such a habit, to feel the loss of something that is changing…to feel the missing, the ending…all worth honoring and noticing in our dance of humanness. And yet, when I breathe and feel into the pause…right here…the stillness between, when I let myself rest in this place I am so grateful.
Today I practice being with this place, this pleasure in the pause…perhaps you will join me in your own practice?! I will practice brining myself back to the pleasure in the pause often and call on the beauty of The Treasure Map To Your Luminous Life tm system. I will navigate the Five Landscapes with this awareness practice:
Inquiry – curious, how does this feel through the day, what will it bring?
Capacity – growing my attention and ability to be in this pause
Remedy – feeling, receiving and enjoying the healing, release, recovery, discovery
ReStory – gathering some new insight or aspect that enriches and shifts the story I hold about myself, the way I am or the way I navigate my day, my exchanges and my life
Mastery – inviting this expanded self-story-experience into the rhythmic flow of my daily life as a resource for goodness and connection to myself, my connection with others, my connection to my work, and my connection with the Sacred or the Divine
I invite you to join me in your own exploration. Please let me know what you find by commenting on this blog, sharing it with friends and loved ones and reporting back on your discoveries!
